It does not fold up very well and it is heavy to carry. I is very durable and large so you can seat alot of people on it.Took this to the beach in Delaware over the Memorial Day weekend and it was great. I'm thinking about buying the 6x6 for my solo trips to the beach. Material feels like the same thing my beach chair is made out of.I ordered 2matsand they arrived as stated on time. I gave the larger one to my daughter for Christmas. We love to boat at a local lake and with dogs, sand is a big issue. They, the dogs, have a tendency to bring sand onto the towels so we are all looking forward to giving them a try.Bought this item for camping and day trips to the beach. It kept sand out of the tent and off the rug at the beach. It does just what it says it does. The only bad thing about the rug is that it is not too comfortable to sit on as it is very plastic-y.We were looking for a mat that we could place our scuba diving gear on between dives. This mat was perfect for everyone to share a corner. It allowed water to seep through. We could walk on it since it never got hot. Our gear was kept out of the mud. Grommets are a plus.Good...Works as described and sand will sift through. Color scheme is actually nice (purchased both color schemes).Bad... It is made of plastic and feels as such. Kind of like the plastic mesh bags that are used for oranges/grapefruits. Colors are a little more bright than I would like. Even with the specs on the website, it just seems a little heavier and bulkier than we expected.We were hoping it would have a more cloth-like feel. Unless you aren't bothered by plastic, you still need to use a towel to sit on. Maybe the 6x6 would have been a better fit for us, but we don't expect to travel with it if a flight is required."
