You need a mat because it's very slippery on hardwood.They are so pretty & true to color. They are thin, so you do need a rug pad under them to keep them in place. True to color. Don't forget a mat through.Okay, I purchased this over a month ago. It has been hanging on my porch railing the entire time to air out and it still REEKS of a weird smell...and I promise that I'm not the only one who thinks it smells terrible. I'm bummed I have to pay find a cleaner who will take it.Great: It's a beautiful rug and it hit my porch within 3 days! It's just what I was looking for!Not Great: It is saturated with a *really* strong weird smell. It's almost a chemical patchouliwoodsy smell. It's been hanging on my front porch railing for 6 days and I still can't bring it into the house. I'm pregnant, so it is very possible that I'm extra sensitive...but my dogs actually moved their dog beds out of the room when I did have the rug in the house! I'm going to keep it but will have to send it out to besteamcleaned.This rug is exactly as pictured. A soft ivory background with the perfect Swedish blue stripes. It works well over an existing carpet with no pad underneath OR on hardwood floors WITH a pad underneath to prevent slipping. Beautifully simple.Very nice rug. It is a darker cream than I expected or wanted, but is still so nice. You do not really need a rug mat under it. Great, since I bought the 8x10 rug. It is nice on its own, but perfect for layering on top with another rug. I bought also a fur rug that I will put over it in front of the couch. Buy it!The rug arrived early, and looks very nice in the room. The blue in the rug is slightly shade then the walls of the room, but it still works really well. It was wrapped nicely and arrived without any damage. It is getting lots of compliments!I purchased this rug for a spare bedroom and I couldn't be happier with my choice. I live near the beach and wanted a beach feel for the room and this rug is gives me just that. The simple and clean look brings the room together and gives it that beachy/Cape Cod feel.Perfect rug!
